Pio is a recent grad who majored in Art History. This summer, he taught a variety of classes to the students at AGN and APPU schools, including bachata, creative writing, and Spanish!
A perfect afternoon on the playground with AGN students. Every day from 4-7pm I go out to play games with the kids– volleyball, frisbee, dodgeball, and even Indian games they’ve taught me like Kho Kho and Cabaddi!
Me and Jody teaching a Bachata dance lesson to APPU students. They picked up the steps so quickly, and at the end of the lesson they taught us some Indian dance moves!
Each morning we have the option to perform or speak for a few minutes in front of the students at the end of their assembly. Today we chose to talk about Caribean history and culture.
Chitra, the academic director of APPU, is always so kind and helpful. She brings us the best fruits (mangos!) and once took us into the city to shop for traditional Indian clothing. Today she showed us her farm, and we took this photo after having eaten the wonderful meal she cooked.
Today the teachers at AGN treated us to a potluck lunch they had made for us. The lemon rice was so tasty!
